Ed Mayo elected to Co-operatives Europe board

June 28 2010

Ed Mayo, Secretary General of Co-operatives UK, has been elected to the board of Cooperatives Europe at its Regional Assembly.

The Assembly, held recently in Brussels, saw Mr Mayo join the board along with 12 other successful candidates from across Europe.

Cooperatives Europe is the biggest membership organisation in Europe promoting the co-operative model of enterprise for sustainable economic progress with social objectives, and is the European region of the International Co-operative Alliance.

Commenting on his election, Mr Mayo said: “Co-operation is important the world over and it is great that the UK, often seen as the birthplace of co-operation, is represented in Europe.”
