East of England Co-operative’s supermarket in Halstead has opened after a £1.5 million refurbishment.

Society President Gillian Bober cut the ribbon to reopen the store with colleagues from the Halstead supermarket and from across the society.

Chief Executive Richard Samson said: “I’m delighted with the improvements to our Halstead store, which have been very well received by customers. This is a superb example of the type of investment for the future that we will continue to make across the region.”

To celebrate the store’s relaunch, which has been in the town since 1987, the society made a £500 donation to Halstead Day Centre, and has committed support to Richard De Clare Primary School in the new term.

The store continues to sell locally sourced products including items from Tastes of Anglia.
