Credit union honours

January 21 2010

Southwark Credit Union’s Louis ‘Roy’ McLeod has been awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours.

Mr McLeod received the honour for 25 years of service at the credit union. He has been instrumental in taking Southwark from just 237 members when he joined to over 10,000 currently, making the organisation one the British movement’s leading credit unions.

Elsewhere, Uel Adair of Waterside Credit Union in Northern Ireland was given an MBE for his contribution to the financial services industry in Northern Ireland. Mr Adair was also President of the Irish League of Credit Unions from 2007 to 2009.
